The popular Dickens’ Days Parade scheduled for Nov. 27 this year has been sidelined due to COVID-19 restrictions. The annual event is hosted by the Port Stanley Lions and Lioness clubs. Parade coordinator Ray Filewood says while the cancellation of this year’s event is disappointing, he adds it was inevitable.
Filewood says months of planning go into the yearly parade.
Filewood explained Central Elgin Council is not considering any applications for parades in the municipality for the rest of 2020. While the parade is a no-go this year, Filewood encourage people to still come and visit Port Stanley and support the local businesses. The intent, he says, is to return to the Dickens’ Days Parade next year on Nov. 26.
