It won’t be just a new park for the city, it’s going to be an active community hub that will provide a much-needed recreational space in the city’s core. Thanks to a $500,000 gift from the Estate of Donna Vera Evans Bushell, a vacant lot adjacent to St. Thomas Public Library is about to be transformed into the Westlake-Evans Civic Park. At Thursday morning’s announcement Andrew Gunn, consultant for the estate, outlined some of the unique and creative features to be housed in the park.
St. Thomas Public Library CEO Heather Robinson stood on the vacant lot and envisioned what will be an animated park for all ages.
The vacant space formerly was the site of the Colin McGregor Justice Building.
