Thanks to a very generous donation, the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority will be building a new ‘sustainable stage’ at Springwater Forest. The $335,000 donation from the Estate of Donna Vera Evans Bushell to the CCCA will be used to fund the construction of the stage which will be built sustainably, including a green roof and tree planting to offset the emissions involved in construction.
The stage will not have to travel far either, as the structure will be built nearby at Steelway Building Systems.
Emily Febrey, Community Outreach Technician at CCCA says that stage will be utilized for weddings, educational events such as the Carolinian Forest Festival, and the long-standing Fred Eaglesmith Charity Picnic.
The stage, which will be called the “Evans Sisters’ Stage” will be built in memory of Donna and her 2 sisters Doris and Thelma and is scheduled to open next year.
Andrew Gunn and Maddie King of Andrew Gunn Consulting Inc. and young & free press will be making more funding announcements on behalf of the Estate of Donna Vera Evans Bushell in the coming weeks.
