Transitioning through a student’s post-secondary school life often requires resiliency and that is the unofficial title of an 8 by 16 foot mural unveiled yesterday at the Fanshawe College St. Thomas/Elgin Regional Campus. The campus student council commissioned St. Thomas artist, Chris Cherry, to create the mural which incorporates inspirational words selected by student council members into the abstract work of art, as explained by Natalie Tyson and Sasha Giesbrecht.
The words featured in the mural have also been translated into languages spoken by members of Fanshawe’s international student community. Artist Chris Cherry says one aspect of the 8 by 16 foot mural is an awareness of diversity.
Student council requested the artist create a mural that would serve as an inspiration to current and future students.
