Residents at Caressant Care On Bonnie Place got a surprise on Wednesday when a bus load of students from Mitchell Hepburn Public School showed up with Christmas gifts. Each student that arrived brought in baskets and bags full of gifts for the seniors as many of them don’t receive anything at Christmas. Items such as blankets, socks, lotions, soaps, puzzles and more were laid under the tree and then distributed to the seniors by staff at Caressant Care.
Grade 8 teacher at Mitchell Hepburn Marie Woodstock says that the initial collection began with staff, but it quickly turned into a school wide initiative.
Woodstock says that staff at the school are so thankful to all the generous families who supported them during the collection.
Students were able to spend some time with the residents following the donation where they sang Jingle Bells and wished them all a Merry Christmas.
