Canadians across the country will, hopefully, receive test messages from Alert Ready today. Alert Ready is Canada’s national emergency alert system, designed to send out critical and potentially life-saving alerts to Canadians.
Tests alerts are being sent out throughout the day across Canada, with Ontario set to receive it at 2:55pm.
In use since 2015, recent tests of the Ready Alert system haven’t gone according to plan. The systems first test, in May of 2018, saw almost half of wireless users in Manitoba fail to receive the test.
Similar issues were seen across Canada during the second test, in November of 2018.
The test being sent out today should be received by compatible wireless devices, television, and radio.
