The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital has received the highest rating that a healthcare organization can receive from Accreditation Canada. The hospital has been accredited with exemplary standing by the group of peer surveyors that visited the hospital over 4 days in June.
The voluntary in depth evaluation process involved more than 2,400 standards being looked at, giving the hospital an overall rating of 99.9%.
President and CEO Robert Biron says that the accreditation is a testament to the front line staff.
Biron says that 4 years ago the hospital received accreditation one tier below this year’s, which speaks to the ongoing improvements in the hospital.
The hospital will have their next accreditation in 2023.
