A ceremony is taking place on Saturday (November 3) in St. Thomas to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice that ended World War I. The ceremony is being held at the Veterans Memorial Garden on Moore Street.
31 Combat Engineer Regiment (The Elgins) in St. Thomas will start with a Freedom of the City Parade from Jumbo to the garden.
Lieutenant Colonel Blair Ashford says that the ceremony is meant to honour those who lost their lives.

Ashford says that the ceremony will be similar to a Remembrance Day ceremony.
Ashford says that the lots of people have a connection to the armed forces.

After the ceremony the Elgins will be marching the CASO Station where members of the 91st battalion left for World War I.
The ceremony begins at 10:45 a.m.
A Remembrance Day Ceremony will still be taking place next Sunday (November 11).
