EMPLOYMENT CONSULTANT TO ASSIST ONTARIO WORKS 10/9/2018 7:40:43 PM
Ontario Works staff will now be able to directly introduce their clients to Fanshawe College's employment consultants. The City's Social Service's Department and Fanshawe College have entered a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The MOU will bring an employment consultant from Fanshawe College to the St. Thomas - Elgin Ontario Works building for a half day per week.
Director of Ontario Works Elizabeth Sebestyen says that this will bring in the warm hand off approach.
Sebestyen says the consultant will also provide work shops on trades or career paths.
Sebestyen says that they hope that the direct contact will lead to more Ontario Works clients being able to become employed.
It it anticipated that the MOU will continue when the Social Services Department moves into their new location at 230 Talbot Street.
In the agreement Fanshawe will pay $25 in rent per day to use the office space and the department will pay Fanshawe $25 per day for the service.
The project will be revaluated in the future to see if any improvements need to be made.
