CHARGES LAID FOLLOWING E-TRANSFER THEFT FROM FRIEND

A St. Thomas man has been charged with theft after police say he e-transferred $650 from his friends bank account into his own. The accused had allowed his friend to use his phone for online banking.
                   
Police allege that the victim did not log off his account.
      
The accused then e-transferred $650 into his own bank account.
       
The victim contacted police after he was told that he had insufficient funds the next time he went to take out money.
      
The 29 year old man is charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of probation. He will answer the charge at a future court date.
