BABY SKUNK CAUGHT IN RAT TRAP A CONCERN
8/7/2018 7:07:37 AM

Another Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in St. Thomas is asking residents not to use rat traps. A resident recently contacted the centre after they came across a baby skunk that had it's leg caught in a rat trap.

The rat traps have jagged edged claws that close when the animal steps or places their head in it.

Executive Director Carol Clarke says that these traps are not kind to the animals.

Clarke says that more than just baby skunks and rats could be caught in the traps.

Clarke says they advice against using the traps and would recommend contacting a pest company if you feel you have a rat problem.
