The London-St. Thomas unemployment rate jumped to 5.5 per cent in June, up from 5.3 per cent in May.
Roughly 1,200 jobs were added in June, while the labour force rose by 1,800.
Statistics Canada says Ontario gained 35-thousand jobs last month -- the biggest increase in the country.
The increase brings total year-over-year gains in the province to 157-thousand.
The federal agency says the bulk of the new jobs created in June were in full-time employment, which was up by 22-thousand-400.
But StatsCan says Ontario's unemployment rate increased to 5.9 per cent from 5.7 per cent in May because more people were looking for work.
