NEW BIRDHOUSE HONOURS MEMORY OF LATE MSGR. MORRISON TEACHER
6/8/2018 11:05:52 AM

Monsignor Morrison Catholic School in St. Thomas has honoured a former teacher with a bird house. A ceremony was held to dedicate a bird house after the late Mary-Ellen Heidel-Huismann. Heidel-Huismann was a grade 1/2 teacher at the school who passed away in November.

Principal Jim Naphin says they decided on a bird house because of Heidel-Huismann's love of birds.

Naphin says a plaque with Heidel-Huismann's picture and favourite prayer on it will now hang in the front entrance of the school. Husband Rick Huismann says a bird house is fitting given their love for animals.

Huismann says that while it was a tough day for he and his family, the support from the Monsignor Morrison community has meant a lot to he and his family.
