The Dalewood Bridge replacement project can now officially get started. St. Thomas City Council has awarded the tender of the contract to McLean Taylor Construction Limited for $4.6 million ($4,693,135.16). Council has also approved the design contract for $297,000 ($297,231) be awarded to BTE Engineering Inc. This includes engineering services during the construction of the bridge.
The new bridge will be a two lane cable stayed bridge that includes a pedestrian path. New sidewalks will be added on the east side of Dalewood Road from Woodworth Crescent to the bridge to make the connection of the Dalewood Reservoir trail network easier.
Construction in the watercourse is expected to start in mid July to allow for fish spawning to occur.   The bridge is expected to be complete and open to traffic in June of 2019.
