TEMPORARY BRIDGE COMING FOR PORT BRUCE
3/13/2018 5:22:43 PM

Elgin County Council is moving forward with plans to bring in a temporary bridge to replace the collapsed Port Bruce Bridge. The exact location of the temporary bridge is still to be determined by council. The cause of the collapse is still not determined as the investigation is ongoing. An anchor rod failure is the most likely cause for the collapse at this point.

Council did look into the possibility of a military bridge however they were not illegible for one as the military only gets involved if emergency services were completely cut off for residents.

There is no timeline for the removal of the truck. Council is still waiting to receive a plan on removal from the truck owner's insurance company as there are still multiple factors being considered.

Council is moving forward with plans to demolish the bridge to keep in line with environmental issues like spawning season. The temporary bridge will be installed within the next 2 - 3 months.
