The Tundra Swans have returned to the Aylmer area! Each year anywhere between 3,000 - 5,500 swans use the Aylmer Wildlife Management Area as a staging area on their migration path to the arctic. The swans come from the Chesapeake Bay area.
This year the swans began showing up in late February and will be in Aylmer for the majority of the month.
Manager at the Aylmer Wildlife Management Area Ron Casier says that people from all over to come see the swans.
Casier says that while weather does play a factor they are anticipating that the peak number of swans will be there by next weekend.
The Aylmer Wildlife Management Area is located right beside the Ontario Police College. The best entrance to view them is off of Hacienda Road.
