ST. THOMAS RIDE CAMPAIGN NUMBERS DOWN IN 2017

St. Thomas Police issued 5 charges for impaired driving during their festive R.I.D.E. campaign last month. Police stopped 1,700 vehicles at 5 different check points. Four of the five people were charged for being impaired by alcohol with one person being charged for being impaired by drugs.
Officers also issued 2 license suspensions for drivers registering in the warning range.
These numbers are down from last year's R.I.D.E. program which saw 9 people charged. Overall impaired driving was up 33% in St. Thomas last year with 52 charges laid.
