CITY SETS INTERIM TAX LEVY
1/9/2018 11:59:29 AM

St. Thomas City Council voted in favour of this year's interim tax levy. The interim levy states that property owners will have to advance 50% of their 2017 property taxes in two equal installments that will be due in February and April of 2018. The payments will be due on February 23rd and April 25th.

The total amount is half of the total tax amount from 2017 that went towards municipal and school purposes levied from 2017. If you do not pay the amount it will go down as a default payment.

The interim tax levy comes as the City has not yet set the tax rates for each property for this year. The final tax bills will not be completed until June of this year.

The interim tax levy will be deducted from the final tax bill, leaving the net amount of taxes owing. This amount will then be paid in two equal installments in July and October of this year.
