FOOD BANK THANKS COMMUNITY FOR OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT 1/8/2018 12:32:50 PM
The St. Thomas - Elgin Food Bank is thanking the community for their support in 2017. The food bank helped feed approximately 6,800 people this year, which is around the same number that they served in 2016. They were again overwhelmed with the outpouring amount of support from local business and members of the community.
General Manager Karen McDade says that the people who use the food bank are very thankful for the support
The food bank also launched their "Food Bank Angel" Program in early December. Through the program people donate $1 per week for the entire year. The $52 helps the food bank purchase perishable food items such as meat, bread and cheeses.
Since the program launched on December 1st they have had 200 people sign up.
