ELGIN COUNTY LIBRARIES AND STEAM PARTNER ON E-WASTE PROJECT
11/14/2017 10:39:19 AM

The STEAM Centre in St. Thomas is helping to provide people in Elgin County with locations to safely dispose of their electronic waste.   The STEAM Centre in partnership with the Elgin County Libraries have installed 5 electronic waste drop off bins at 5 libraries in Elgin County. The 5 bins expand the current electronic waste bin program currently in use at the STEAM Centre on Wellington Street.

Executive Director at the STEAM Centre Jessica Moyes says that one of two things will come from the items dropped off in the bins.

Moyes says that so far the bins have been very successful as since the bins were installed in mid October, nearly 1,500 pounds of devices have been collected. Nearly all electronic devices are accepted in the bins aside from any freon or any chemical based devices.
