SUTHERLAND PRESS DEMOLITION BEGINS TODAY
11/13/2017 8:25:36 AM

The demolition of the Sutherland Press building will begin today (November 13). The contracting companyhas been working to temporarily secure some sections of the walls to avoid a total collapse of the building once the heavy equipment arrives on site.

The heavy equipment will begin to demolish the front part of the building starting today. They will then continue to demolish the building southward. The east bound lane of Talbot Street will be closed beginning today as well, for part of the week.

The contractor may have to close both lanes of Talbot Street for brief periods while the front section of the building is being demolished.

You are being asked to exercise caution around Talbot Street and Moore Street while the demolition process is taking place as there will be lots of heavy equipment in the area.

Access to the Moore Street parking lot will be maintained from its south entrance during the demolition.

Demolition of the building is anticipated to be completed by the end of November.   The City will reopen the Transit Building next to the Sutherland Press Building as soon as it is safe to do so.
