CONSULTANT TO IMPLEMENT HOMELESS ENUMERATION PROCESS 11/10/2017 9:05:34 AM
A consultant will be working with the City to help determine the number of homeless people in St. Thomas and Elgin County. Council has approved that a consultant be brought in to plan and implement the homeless enumeration process. This comes as the Ministry of Housing has asked for each housing manager in the province to conduct a enumeration of the homeless population in their jurisdiction.
Housing Services Administrator Ralph West says the city sees this as an opportunity to learn about more than just the number of homeless people in the St. Thomas and Elgin County region.
West says that the consultant will be conducting the survey over a 5 day period in April of next year. The survey will be timely as the City will be at the halfway point of their 10 year homelessness plan next year, so they will use these numbers to update and reassess the final 5 years of the plan.
