MP Karen Vecchio has added another job title to her resume, but it's not really one that she wanted.

The local MP was selected as the Chair of the House Status of Women Committee. Conservative MP Rachael Harder was the original nominee to chair the committee. However, the Liberal members of the committee used their majority to vote down her nomination, and nominte Vecchio instead.
Vecchio tells myFM News that she was voted to be the chair, despite her objection to it.

The Liberals say that Harder was not the right person to chair the committee because of her anti-abortion views. However, Harder is the Conservative's Status of Women Critic, while Vecchio is the party's families, children and social development critic.

Vecchio says that despite her displeasure, she will work hard to fulfull her new role. She says that her first job is to make sure that the committee can work together for better policies and legislation.
