SPREADING THE MESSAGE OF SAFETY DURING FIRE PREVENTION WEEK
10/10/2017 8:29:01 AM

The St. Thomas Fire Service is reminding you to plan two ways out of your home in the case of a fire. This message comes as this week is Fire Prevention Week. The week is aimed at increasing fire safety awareness and prevention. This year's theme is "Every Second Counts - Plan Two Ways Out."

Bill Todd Chief Fire Prevention Officer says having one planned escape route out of your house is not enough.

Todd says that this is also a good time for people to check to make sure that their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working properly.

The Fire Department is holding an open house at both fire halls on Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., which everyone is welcomed to attend.

Fire Prevention week runs until Saturday (October 14).
