The Elgin County Railway Museum received a $20,000 donation from the Colchester Fund on Friday (May 19). The anonymous fund is through the Elgin-St. Thomas Community Foundation. The Money will go towards the replacement of the centre section of the museum's roof.
Dawn Miskelly Executive Director of the Elgin County Railway Museum says that the donation will help to restore both heritage and their building.

Miskelly says that the roof replacement will improve the visitor experience to the museum. It will allow visitors to get up close and personal with more of the pieces.
Terry Carroll Executive Director of the Elgin-St. Thomas Community Foundation says that the man who started the fund knew what he wanted to support.

The roof replacement is expected to cost $654,250. The donation brings the museum's fundraising total to $500,000. Construction on the roof is scheduled for October with a completion date of early 2018.
