The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia has come and gone for another year.
The day is marked annually on the 17th of May, and recognized in many countries across the globe.
The Government of Canada is in the process of repealing Section 159 of the Criminal Code to end its discriminatory impact on same sex sexual activity, and is planning a public apology for past mistreatment of LGBTQ citizens.
Locally, progress has been seen at Arthur Voaden Secondary School even in the last four years.
Student Murphy Boyse says safe spaces provide important solace.

AVSS held its International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia commemorations Thursday with a Rainbow flag raising ceremony and other in-school events.
