COUNCIL KICKS OFF SOCCER COMPLEX 5/15/2017 8:03:17 PM
St. Thomas City Council has officially approved the new St. Thomas Outdoor Recreation Complex. Council accepted the tender for the contract at Monday night's (May 15) St. Thomas City Council meeting.
The tender was awarded to Orin Contractors Corporation for $9,098,178.97. The contract comes in $2,341,822 under the $11,440,000 that council budgeted in debt funding for the project in the 2017 capital budget. The new outdoor complex will be located on Burwell Road.
Rob Cameron Club President of St. Thomas Soccer Club says that the location will help people.
The new complex will replace all of the fields that are located out at the OPP Station fields.
It will feature have 36 various sized soccer fields, a CFL size turf fully lit football field, basketball courts, a splash pad and a number of walking trails.
Staff is recommending that an $11 million 20 year loan from Infrastructure Ontario be applied for to finance the project. The annual debenture costs will be between $513,678 and $753,394.
