HEAT WARNING ISSUED FOR ST. THOMAS-ELGIN

It may be the first weekend of Fall, but a heat warning has been issued for St. Thomas and Elgin County. Temperatures and humidity are expected to make things feel like 40 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday.

JUMBO DRESSED IN PURPLE FOR BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS

Jumbo the Elephant is wearing a big purple bow around his neck for the rest of the month. The bow is in honour of Big Brother Big Sisters month across Canada. The goal of the month is to help raise awareness of the need for volunteers at the agency.

SCHOOL BUS DRIVER CHARGED

A 60-year-old school bus driver has been charged following a collision on Thursday afternoon. St. Thomas Police say that the bus lost control during a turn in the area of Isabel and Victora Streets. The front of the bus ended up hitting a hydro pole and then a parked vehicle.

POLICE RESPOND TO TWO DOG BITES IN ONE DAY

Two dog bite incidents in one day. St. Thomas Police say that they were called to two separate incidents where someone was bit by a loose dog. In both incidents, the victims had a pet with them as well. The victims and their pets both suffered minor injuries.

JR. B STARS TO HOST TAILGATE BBQ ON SUNDAY

The St. Thomas Jr. B Stars are set to host a tailgate barbeque this Sunday. The event will run from 4pm-6pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Tickets are $12.00 for adults and $8.00 for kids 12 & under. You will have your choice between a Hamburger or Sausage Dinner.

The St. Thomas Police are encouraging parents who want to volunteer at their child's school to come in and get your background check started. They say it takes on average 3 weeks at least to complete the police check.
