A devastating barn fire in Malahide has resulted in the death of about 9,000 turkeys.
Firefighters from all three Malahide Fire stations were called out around 9:30 Monday night to the approximately 500-foot long steel barn on College Line, west of Imperial Road.
Malahide Fire Chief Jeff Spoor said two tankers from Yarmouth Centre and Belmont fire halls were also requested.
He added the fire was brought under control around 1 a.m. Tuesday and firefighters had cleared the scene by 2:30 p.m.
The fire is not deemed suspicious and Spoor advised the cause is listed as undetermined.
Damage estimate to the barn is $500,000 with another $30,000 for the loss of young turkeys.
